This is a single right hand fan. Stave length closed 49cm, fabric width 140cm, fabric length approximately 3m. Silk is hemmed top and bottom with silk thread to ensure uniform colour throughout. These fans are dyed with blacklight dyes so under Blacklight/UV lights they fluoresce. I will pop a video below of my blacklight work so you get the idea.
I created these mega fans in ultra long length silks as the concept I had in mind was that I wanted to be completely surrounded in a silk rainbow while dancing. Tick on successful execution. I don’t have a decent photo (yet) as these are so long to take a photo without help is as possible as riding a unicorn while playing with these fans. So until I get one, I will be linking a small clip I made of one of these I donated to Flagging in the Park as a fundraiser and some close ups of the fans in stock. Silk Bazaar Fans are completely hand dyed and hand made in the Hawkesbury Region in Sydney Australia, each set is a work of art. The silk is purchased in a natural state, it is then processed and hand dyed in my studio to your colour specifications and assembled by hand with much love and oodles of patience in my studio.
My fans are made with premium quality 5mm silk habutai, and hemmed top and bottom with silk thread prior to dying to ensure the colours are perfectly matched throughout. The length of the silk is just over 50cm. I import bamboo bases that are strong, durable with maximum number of staves to ensure strength, stability and usability. Being a perfectionist, my fans have to have the best of everything – from fabric to dye to bamboo and most importantly time – these babies are created over the space of at least one week.
